Godly Play
Downstairs – 10:15 a.m. (except 1st Sundays)
Our program, “Godly Play,” is a Montessori-based Christian education plan
for all of God’s children, young and old.
Stories are carefully presented using high quality
illustrative pieces and are followed by open questions that teach children a
sacred language which reveals their already-present spirituality.

|
 |
St. John the Baptist provides Godly Play for children age 4 thru 5th grade,
on Sunday mornings, but you might find stories being presented in almost any
gathering in any room of our parish!
|
|
Sunday Morning Format:
Getting Ready – be greeted by the Doorkeeper, and prepare to enter the
sacred space of Godly Play.
Story – listen to the Godly Play story and follow the questions for
spiritual development.
Response Time – individual art response to the story, using wide variety of
materials.
Clean Up – learning to respect our space and materials and building personal
responsibility.
Closing – giving Thanks in prayer.
Each child receives a one-at-a-time blessing from the Storyteller.
Children rejoin their families in the sanctuary in time for communion.
All parishioners are welcome to join the Godly Play team. Training is
offered several times a year.
