ANNOUNCEMENTS and ST. JOHN’S PARISH PLANNER Thanks to Carol Friendly, our COFFEE HOUR host today (March 7). If you wish to participate in this ministry, please sign-up in the narthex. BAPTISMAL PROMISES – SUNDAY’S FORUM. Please join Fr. Colin Williams following the 10:15 service to reflect on our baptismal promises and how we proclaim them. OUR WEDNESDAY LENTEN SERIES continues next week on March 10. Worship in the Lady Chapel at 5:30 will be “Body Prayer,” followed by a soup supper in the Narthex at 6:00. All will convene in the Ladehoff Room at 6:45 for the Study Series. Our third session will be “The Gospel According to Luke: The Idea of Salvation History.” Childcare will be available upon request by calling the church office – 503.245.3777. THIS MONTH’S COMMUNITY DINNER is next Saturday, March 13th. Volunteer sign-up sheet is available in the Narthex. INTEGRITY LENTEN EVENT: The Portland Chapter of Integrity USA, the Episcopal Church advocacy organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their allies, is pleased to invite you to attend a special gathering at 7:00 p.m. this Friday, March 5, at St Stephen's Episcopal Parish. We will be hosting Jody Victoria, an occupational therapist who works with sexual minority homeless youth. For more information, please contact Andy McQuery at oregonintegrity@gmail.com. SAFEGUARDING GOD’S CHILDREN: It is the time of year when new vestry members are elected at annual meetings and new volunteers are added for spring events. Safeguarding God’s Children classes are scheduled at St. James’, Tigard, on Sunday, March 14 in the afternoon from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Anyone requiring initial training or renewal of their current certification is welcome to attend. Contact Mimi Eick at 503.246.0153 or at meick3@comcast.net for registration. THE ST. BENEDICT'S GUILD LENTEN QUIET DAY is coming up on March 20th. It begins at 8:30 with Eucharist, followed by a simple breakfast. Fr. Dennis Parker is conductor and will offer three meditations throughout the day, which ends about 3pm. Bring a sack lunch! THE CONSECRATION OF BISHOP-ELECT MICHAEL HANLEY will be held on April 10 at the Hult Center in Eugene at 2:00 p.m. Interested parishioners can log onto consecration reservations and print out your free tickets. Your participation in making this an event of joy for participants and organizers alike is appreciated. LENTEN MEDITATIONS AND A "HOPE CHEST" are available in the Narthex. The meditations begin on Ash Wednesday. The "Hope Chests" which we have used the last 2 years are used to collect your spare change during Lent. This year our contributions will help support the Community Dinner partnership with St. Barnabas. STATIONS OF THE CROSS will be prayed Fridays during Lent (March 12 through March 26th) in the church at 12:00 p.m. Booklets are available in the Narthex for use at any time. NO STATIONS today, March 5, due to OES Chapel. YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS and financial help are asked for the devastation in Haiti and Chile. Episcopal Relief and Development is raising awareness for continued financial aid through Palm Sunday. Please write checks to St. John’s marked for Earthquake Relief, which will be sent on to ERD.
